Restaurant - Laphet Wyne

Design Objectives:

The aim of this project is to design a Myanmar Tea Leaf-based restaurant at Siam Paragon Food Passage in Bangkok, Thailand. Focusing on the Tea Leaf Salad Dish itself, the concept of this restaurant was started to develop and create a place where people can come enjoy the Myanmar Traditional Cuisine.

Concept Overview:

Tea drinking is very popular around the world. But Myanmar is the only country where tea is consumed both as a drink and as an eaten delicacy in the form of pickled tea. Pickled tea leaf salad (Laphet Thoke) is a singular combination of the burst of different textures and tastes experience in one mouthful. Significant texture range from Soft (tea leaf) to Crunchy (fried beans & peas) and flavors sweet, sour, bitter, spicy and savory. The concept of this project is to reflect the Pickled Tea Leaf (Laphet Thoke) dish itself along with the culture and tradition of Myanmar people. The concept is based on the softness of the tea leaf, the essential crunchiness for the perfect tea leaf salad, the way Myanmar people consume it and the traditional process of preparing it. The objective is to create a place where people can gather and socialize while enjoying the Myanmar national cuisine.
